About Dr. Oetker
Dr. Oetker was founded in 1891 when pharmacist August Oetker acquired the Aschoff pharmacy in Bielefeld, Germany, and perfected a reliable, ready-to-use baking powder he sold in portioned sachets under the brand name Backin. Each sachet was measured to guarantee the rise of 500 grams of flour, taking the guesswork out of home baking, and by 1906 the company had sold 50 million packets. From that single product grew a global food brand now sold in more than 40 countries, with core ranges spanning baking ingredients, cake and dessert mixes, and frozen pizza. Dr. Oetker remains a wholly owned, family-run branch of the Bielefeld-based Oetker Group, which has stayed in family hands for more than 130 years. The company still produces its baking powder using essentially the same original recipe, and its purpose, 'Creating a Taste of Home,' anchors a portfolio enjoyed by millions of consumers worldwide.
