Loumidis Papagalos Greek Ground Coffee is a 454g (1lb) finely ground Greek coffee blend — the classic ellinikos kafés grind for briki (Greek coffee pot) preparation, one of the most beloved and historically significant Greek coffee brands, symbolised by the iconic parrot (papagalos) on the tin. Loumidis is an Athens-based Greek coffee roaster founded in 1920, one of Greece's oldest coffee companies and a brand so deeply embedded in Greek food culture that the Papagalos parrot tin is immediately recognisable to every Greek household and diaspora family worldwide. Greek coffee (kafés ellīnikós) is an art and a ritual: the fine grind is measured into the briki with cold water and sugar, heated over a flame until the white foam (kaimaki) rises, then poured carefully to preserve the foam and the thick sediment — a ritual inseparable from Greek hospitality. Spoon 1–2 heaped teaspoons per briki into cold water with sugar if desired, heat slowly on low flame until the kaimaki rises, remove from heat, and serve in a small cup with a glass of cold water on the side.
