The tang of bread kvass fizzing in a glass is the taste of summer porches back home. Gubernija Brewery (Anno 1665) makes this Dark Rye kvass from water, sugar, bread crumbs (roasted rye malt, rye flour, water), citric acid, and carbon dioxide, in a 500 mL (16.9 fl oz) can; natural sediment is possible. Chill well and pour gently, leaving any sediment in the can. Keep a bottle of Frutti Fresh Grapefruit Roz on hand too, for when the table wants two kinds of soda.
