Darna Orahovac — a Croatian green walnut liqueur from Darna in Rovinj, Istria. Deep, herbal, and traditionally Croatian; the household digestif of the Adriatic coast.
Heritage: Orahovac — green walnut liqueur — is a traditional Croatian digestif made by macerating young, unripe walnuts (picked in early summer) in spirit with sugar and aromatic spices. Darna, founded in Rovinj in 1925, is one of the most established producers, bottling orahovac in the classic Istrian household style.
Tasting notes: Deep mahogany color. Pronounced young-walnut aroma with a hint of clove, cinnamon, and citrus peel. Smooth, gently sweet palate with herbal complexity; clean nutty finish.
Pairing: Serve at room temperature, neat or chilled, as a digestif. Excellent after a heavy Istrian meal, with dark chocolate, espresso, or drizzled over vanilla ice cream.
Pack: 700ml glass bottle. Store upright in a cool, dark place; once opened, keep tightly capped.
