Heritage: Murfatlar sits near the Black Sea coast in Romania's Dobrogea region. The country's Merlot tradition draws on French varietal introductions of the nineteenth century, with the local semi-dry style favored on the regional table over the drier Bordeaux benchmark.
Tasting notes: Deep ruby color. Subtle dark cherry on the nose with a smooth texture. Medium-bodied palate with gentle sweetness and a pleasing finish.
