Bread rubbed with lard and a pinch of salt was the after-school snack in a lot of Polish and Central European households. This fully cooked, USA-made pork lard — sold as farm-style "smalec domowy" — comes from pork fat (some package readings also list salt as an ingredient, still being confirmed) in a 16oz (464g) tub; keep it refrigerated. Spread it straight onto bread, or use it in place of butter or oil for frying. Spread it on warm somun with a pinch of salt, the way it's done at home.
