Heritage: Katarzyna Estate sits in southern Bulgaria's Sakar wine region, where vineyards extend to the Greek and Turkish borders. Mavrud — Bulgaria's most distinctive indigenous red grape — has been cultivated in the broader Thracian Plain for at least seven centuries.
Tasting notes: Deep ruby color. Spicy dark berry on the nose with an earthy, dried-herb undertone. Medium-to-full-bodied palate with firm tannins and a long structured finish.
Pairing: Serve at cellar temperature. Excellent with grilled lamb, kebapcheta, sirene cheese, or hearty Balkan stews.
