Thomas Vindonissa Dornfelder — a German dry red built on Dornfelder, Germany's most widely planted modern red grape. Deep color, ripe red-fruit character; the German modern-red specialty.
Heritage: Dornfelder was developed in 1955 in Württemberg as a modern German red varietal, intended to produce reliably deep-colored wines in Germany's cooler climate. It is now Germany's second most-planted red grape after Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), with the Dornfelder profile typically showing rich color, ripe red fruit, and food-friendly structure.
Tasting notes: Deep ruby color. Pronounced ripe berry and cherry on the nose with a soft floral lift. Medium-bodied palate with smooth tannins and a clean fruit-driven finish.
Pairing: Serve at cellar temperature. Excellent with German sausages, hearty stews, grilled red meats, or aged hard cheese.
