Maksuzija Loza — a Bosnian-Herzegovinian grape rakija in the loza tradition that runs from Dalmatia through Bosnia into Macedonia. Clear, robust, and unadorned; pure grape distillate without barrel character.
Heritage: Loza is the western Balkan name for grape rakija — the spirit distilled from wine grapes after the wine-making cycle ends, traditionally in the late autumn months. Maksuzija bottles in this tradition, with the clear unaged style that village distillers have made for generations.
Tasting notes: Crystal-clear. Pronounced grape aroma with a hint of fresh fruit. Full, warming palate with the clean fruit-driven character of unaged loza.
Pairing: Serve neat in a small chilled glass as a digestif. Classic with smoked meats, aged hard cheese, kulen, or alongside Turkish coffee.
