Heritage: Baltic Porter is the strong dark beer tradition of the Baltic coast — Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, and broader region — developed in the nineteenth century as a fermented adaptation of English porter brewed at higher strength to survive the long sea voyage from London. Żywiec, founded in 1856 in the Polish Carpathians, has been bottling Polish Baltic Porter for generations, with rich roasted malts and pronounced strength.

Tasting notes: Deep black color with a thick tan head. Pronounced roasted malt and dark-chocolate aroma with hints of dried fruit and licorice. Full-bodied palate with rich complexity and a long warming finish.

Pairing: Serve at cool cellar temperature. Excellent with hearty Polish bigos, smoked sausage, pierogi, dark chocolate desserts, or aged hard cheese.
