Darna Višnjevac — a Croatian sour-cherry liqueur from Darna in Rovinj, Istria. Deep ruby color, pronounced sour-cherry aromatics; the household cherry liqueur of the Adriatic coast.
Heritage: Višnjevac — sour-cherry liqueur — is a traditional Croatian sweet liqueur made by macerating višnja (sour cherries) in spirit with sugar. Darna, founded in Rovinj in 1925, has been one of the most established Istrian liqueur houses, bottling višnjevac as part of its lineup of regional fruit and herbal liqueurs.
Tasting notes: Deep ruby color. Pronounced sour-cherry aroma with a hint of almond. Sweet-tart palate with a viscous texture; clean cherry finish.
Pairing: Serve at room temperature or chilled, neat or over ice. Excellent over vanilla ice cream, in cherry-based desserts, drizzled into coffee, or as a sweet aperitif.
Pack: 700ml glass bottle. Store upright in a cool, dark place; once opened, keep tightly capped.
