Badel Lavov — a Croatian herbal liqueur from Badel 1862, named for the lion (lav). A botanical-bitter expression rooted in the wider Croatian herbal-liqueur tradition.
Heritage: Badel 1862, founded in Zagreb in 1862, anchors Croatia's herbal-spirit canon — pelinkovac, travarica, lavov. The Lavov line draws on a botanical blend of bitter and aromatic herbs in the Habsburg-era apothecary style, building on the same Central European tradition that produced gentian-and-wormwood bitter liqueurs across the old empire.
Tasting notes: Deep amber color. Aromatic herbal nose with notes of bitter root, gentian, and aniseed. Medium-bodied palate with a bittersweet balance and a long savory finish.
Pairing: Serve chilled neat in a small glass as a digestif, or on the rocks with a citrus twist. Excellent after a hearty meal of grilled ćevapi, pašticada, or roasted lamb.
